While “This Mystery” marks the public debut of artist Aaron Taylor, all 12 of the songs originated over 10 years ago. Each song was originally recorded in 2011, with the intention of releasing the album by the end of that year. A decade later, the project now is finally complete and ready for public consumption.

Aaron is thrilled to finally be able to share these songs with the public. Each song has evolved over the years (some more heavily than others!) but each one still retains the deeper rooted parts of his identity that originally birthed each song 10+ years ago. If you couldn’t tell, these songs mean a lot to Aaron, and he’s ecstatic to go public with this project!

Not unlike most musicians, different facets of music (performing, composing, recording, etc.) provide varying levels of fulfillment for Aaron. While his greatest strengths as a musician are his drumming abilities, no other facet of music is quite as fulfilling to him as songwriting and seeing an original piece go from the imagined to the physical world for others to enjoy. The process of songwriting each tune of “This Mystery” (and the period of discovery that accompanied the genesis of these songs) was the catalyst of Aaron’s decision to pursue a career as a working musician. Many of the songs on “This Mystery” were among the very first songs that Aaron ever started writing.

While Aaron finds great fulfillment in songwriting and recording original music, the path of an artist is an extremely challenging pursuit toward finding steady work as a professional musician. For the past 10 years “This Mystery” was put on the back burner while Aaron prioritized pursuing and maintaining a career as a professional drummer and percussionist.

Each song was re-recorded in the spring of 2019 with post-production wrapping up in late fall of 2021. Aaron has other original material that has also been brewing for the past few years - more releases will be on the way in the coming years.
